Ok, now I'm a total noob when it comes to B3D and 3ds max, so I'm probably doing something obviously wrong.
Basically, I downloaded everything and extracted it into the 3ds max folders (btw, I use 3ds max 7). Everytime I open up 3ds max it says "DLL <C:\3dsmax7\b3dexp.dle> failed to initialize. Error code: 127 - The specified prodecure could not be found". Then 3ds max runs like normal. But I don't know how I can export my meshes as b3d files.
The reason why I am trying to use b3d files is because I was using 3ds files, but I couldn't export the textures with the meshes (which I needed to do because I used things like blur and noise in the materials editor which I can't do outside of 3ds max). If there is some other way to export meshes with textures in a form that blitz3d uses, that would also solve my problem because then I wouldn't really need to get the pipeline to work.
Yeah, so any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you unzip using folders (e.g b3dexp.dle should be in the plugins folder). Also download the Max6 patch and unzip that to your plugins folder.
B3d files always reference external textures, you can't save textures in the file. So you would have to bake the blur/noise etc. into the texture - easy to do in any decent image editing app, but you could render the texture using Max if you really wanted to...

Hey OJay,
I'm pretty busy these days so I tend to answer the easy questions first!
Quite a few people ask about source code for the exporter, and I'm still thinking about it - it probably won't happen any time soon... sorry!

So, I got the Max6 patch, and now I don't get the error when I open up 3ds. However, I still can't figure out how to export anything It's probably something really obvious, but as I said, I don't really know much about this stuff. Thanks again

Damnit! That was too easy.... My excuse is that I thought that I read somewhere that you were supposed to do something else, and not do file-export, so I never looked=P Thanks.... *majorly stupid *

On the main B3D pipeline page in the "Exporting B3D files" section it says this :
TIP: Use the B3d Export and Export Last tools instead of: File menu > Export
I've never been able to figure out where this is and why it would be better to do it this way.

this means you can add menus, shortcuts and icons to the toolbar by yourself. as described here: www.onigirl.com/pipeline/Customize_User_Interface.htmand why should you do this? because its much more efficient to just click a button to preview/reexport a mesh than going through 5 menus and 3 dialogs?
